Last week I celebrated a big birthday in Venice with my husband — and for once, it wasn’t a work trip! (Luckily the DDS Global Congress happened to coincide with our visit last week — otherwise that would’ve been a very sad way to mark the occasion, even for me!)
We did all the classics — gondola rides, delicious gelato, awe-inspiring architecture, a Bellini or two at Harry’s Bar, and even a Vivaldi concert. It reminded me how much skill and precision go into true craftsmanship — whether it’s music, art… or dentistry!
Although I didn’t attend the DDS Global Congress myself, I’ve heard some fantastic feedback from colleagues who were there. The event showcased cutting-edge research, impressive new technologies, and world-class speakers, all set against the stunning backdrop of Venice. It sounds like it was an inspiring few days — the perfect blend of professional innovation and cultural beauty.

The New DAS Photogrammetry Camera
In the ever-evolving world of digital implantology, Dynamic Abutment Solutions (DAS) continues to lead the way with smart innovations that redefine accuracy and efficiency. The latest addition to their digital portfolio — the DAS Photogrammetry Camera — is a major leap forward in digital full-arch workflows, designed specifically for complex, multi-unit bridge cases.
Unlike traditional intraoral scanners that are optimised for single-tooth restorations, the DAS Photogrammetry Camera focuses on multi-unit and full-arch implant restorations, delivering exceptional precision, speed, and patient comfort.
A Smarter, Faster, and More Comfortable Workflow
Photogrammetry technology allows clinicians and technicians to capture the 3D positions of multiple implants in just 15–30 seconds, with a stunning accuracy of 20–30 microns. Because the camera is used externally, patients experience far greater comfort compared to traditional intraoral scanning methods.
The system produces two STL files:
- One file for the exact position of the scanbodies over the multi-units, and
- A second for the gingival scan captured using an intraoral scanner.
These files are easily merged within the DAS software, producing a single, highly accurate model that can be integrated directly into 3Shape, Exocad, and other design systems.
The DAS library — including TiBase MU and digital analog data — ensures full compatibility throughout the digital workflow.
